Well turns out the truck that has 37k miles needs a new engine. I thought diesel engines were suppose to last 100k+ miles. We use this truck once in a blue moon to pull our 5 car stacker, which it has towed like 4 times maybe. 2 cylinder walls are scarred pretty bad and they are recommending a new engine. I am starting to see this engine is just as bad as the 6.0

I'll take a 6.4L over a 6.7L (that is out of warranty)

I'll take a 6.0L any day over a 6.4

I'll take a 7.3 any day over a 6.0L.

hmmm. there's a trend here.... technology and emission laws are killing the diesel pickup market for the guy that looks at the truck as a revenue generator for a business. For the guys flipping them every 100K miles or hot rodding them for play - rock on, you got it made, enjoy the latest and greatest!

Ok so we picked up the truck from our local dealership, which never even looked at the truck. It was in the same spot we pushed it to. Couldn't get any help unloading it off a trailer. They insisted it needed a new engine, but couldn't tell us what they did and why. The truck was never moved, still had dead batteries, there were no tool marks removing the inner fenderwell to check compression, no finger prints under the hood, but diagnosed it needed a new motor to the tune of 17k. We arguing about paying them anything. We then took it to a small shop in town, which diagnosed the computer was bad. They sent it off, but it couldn't be fixed. We then had it towed to a dealership about 30-45 minutes away. It was found that the wiring harness to one of the fuel injectors shorted out causing the FPDM to short in return messing the computer up. So repairing all this cost about 3k, but truck is up and running again. Just thought I would share the results that were found.

Thank you for adding the fix to this thread. Too many people forget to give back to the forum by supplying the answers after its fixed. Good luck with the truck going forward!
