I can't seem to find the serpentine belt size anywhere online or in owners manual. Auto part store gave me a belt which turns out to be the heating/cooling belt. Too small not even close. Hoping someone could tell me the right size belt so i can get my truck back out on the road. Also if anyone has good luck with a certain brand, that would help too. I've heard good things about Gates or Dayco. Thanks.

I changed both belts and idlers on my 2009 for the first time at 96K miles, before towing from Baton Rouge to South Fork, CO. I figured that the FOMOCO belts had served me well. I purchased the belts and idlers from my local dealer, then brought the truck and parts to a local independent diesel shop for ~1/2 the labor charge.

Hourly rate at dealer vs independent shop are very close. the difference is in the way that Ford adds labor charge per package. Main serpentine plus idler replacement = xx hours. AC belt and idler = xx hours. These labor 'packages' are added together. The independent shop only charges and additional 30 minutes for the AC belt and idler since disassembly and reassembly to replace the main belt and idler is major part of the labor and only needs to be done once when both are replaced at the same time.

Based on the belt holder that was used on my '09 6.4, the MC # for the serpertine is JK8-872D. Also on the holder is the Ford # AC3Z-8620-D; for the small belt: JK6401A; 9C3Z-8620-A. Not sure what the JK numbers are for, but the others are Ford #s.
