HELP

When the message center displays "cleaning exhaust filter" I press OK and hell breaks loose the trucks starts shuddering, surging, bucking and the engine rattles like my 02 Dodge CDT.

I have taken it to the dealer and of course they could not find any codes:icon_mad::icon_mad::icon_mad: so I took the truck back over the weekend to see if the truck would do it again---- well of course it did it again...wanna bet they cant find codes again..:icon_mad::icon_mad:

Ideas Please Help---

trails2004,
I can help you get this resolved by escalating your concern. I already have your VIN from previous messages, so please send me a private message with your contact information, approximate mileage, and dealer info.

I've never hit the OK either, the screen will clear out within seconds if don't acknowledge the message.

I doubt hitting or not hitting will cure your ills.

Mine has a slight dip in power at first then the computer (I guess) picks up the power to compensate. The drop only last a semi-second.

I cant believe depressing the "OK" button would cause the issue-- But I tell you when it has happened-- as I stated above it feels like all hell is breaking loose.

Cory has jumped in to help - Thanks Cory. I feel the dealer is doing what they can- I 'm not certain they know which way to turn at this point

I mean unless they've already checked the parts, it's basic troubleshooting.
If it only happens during a regen then check the parts involved during the regen not just look for a code and say "Sorry I can't help you but bring it back next time so we can go for another joy ride on the clock"

My last dealer couldn't diagnose friggin blown head gaskets on my 6.0 ......4 different times, they basically told me I had a gremlin in the truck that drank coolant. Found a new dealer tech elsewhere and he called me within 4 hrs with what was wrong and should he go ahead and start ordering parts.

Sorry if I vent but that dealership was just plain sorry from the front door to the repair shop.

Update

On August 29th I made an appointment for today August 31st. I left the truck at 0700 this morning- I called at 1600 hrs and asked if they knew anything about the truck. I was advised they did not look it today and asked if I could leave it overnight- they would look at tomorrow - - I replied- I need the truck Friday

Update

Sept 1 the dealer preformed an "extensive road test- determined the DPF was reading 104% on the start of the regen then dropped within 2 seconds to 24 %. They re calibrated the brain box and cleaned the DPF the old fashioned way" their words not mine. The service manager also said the mechanic experienced the full gambit of what I was describing

At first blush the truck seems to shift smoother-- this weekend will be the test.... I will let everyone know what happens after this weekend...hopefully this has taken care of the issue

trails2004,
That’s great news that your shifts are smoother. I sent you a PM with a few details in case you experience any troubles. Have a great Labor Day weekend filled with family and BBQ! :D

After 500 miles without any issues that I described above-I believe the re-calibration solved my issues.

Thank you Fremont Ford and Cory with Ford Customer Service for your help.

I have this problem as well!

I've had the exhaust filter cleaning cycle shudder since I bought the truck. Mentioned it a few times to the dealer when I had it in for scheduled maint but they found nothing. When they flashed everything to up the performance on the engine(mine is a 2011) last time it was in, it seemed to help, but I noticed a few weeks ago that it was indeed still having the problem, just less severely.

Is there something specific I can ask them to do next time it's in? Seems I'm reading the fix is to recalibrate "brain box"?
