I just bought a 2011 f250 that had valve issue and trashed the motor. I have located a totaled 2015 f350 with 10k miles. Will the 2015 be a direct swap or what will need to be changed out. Thanks in advance

Besides the motor/trans/transfer I would think the exhaust and the wiring harness along with the computers.
The 15 is a different engine and there are probably different values assigned to the exhaust sensors not to mention the exhaust brake.

you would need to have the 2015 injectors programmed into your 2011 computer. Each injector has a code number on them that identifies the characteristics....there are some swapping the 2015 turbo onto the earlier engines....might do a search for that swap....so, except for the turbo and injectors, i think the engine would otherwise be a one for one swap.

Does your 2011 have the 4th EGT (exhaust gas temp) sensor at the far end of the exhaust system? Near the axle hump? If not you need that pipe or a bong welded on also would need the wiring harness and I suspect computer.

If you pull heavy the 15's exhaust brake would be a great addition if you can get what is needed for it to function.

You need a real tech to weigh on on this one...

direct bolt in yes. get it running no. the h/p fuel sys is different per ford. pump out put and inj flow rates are different. the pcm may not be capable of controlling the inj duty cycle or the pcv,vcv on the 15. or just swap your 11 pump and inj and roll on. or try it and let us know. lots of differences in the intake turbo and exhaust areas. accessories should bolt up.

Are you going to be running a DPF on this swap...?
If deleted, that will solve 98% of your install/running problems.

Many tuning companies have great tunes for the 11-14 running the 2015 turbo and HPFP.

Connecting the 2015 exhaust brake might be a problem.
Not sure how that would be done without a external switch. And how to wire up that switch in the 2011 wire harness is probably complicated at best. But maybe a custom tune writing company could set up a on/off option in the software..? Maybe 2 tow tunes, 1 with/1without ex brake on..? Just a thought.

Not saying it can't be done, but would be a lot of changes. Engine, transmission, radiators (diesel has two cooling systems),fuel tank, fuel lines, wiring harness, ECM etc. This would best be accomplished with the cab removed form both trucks.

Yea... the old simple days of exchanging are done... I'd stay away from it not worth it all. just the way I see it.

If they are the same configuration cab/box, what about setting the gas body onto the 2011 diesel frame / running gear? Or was the frame damaged as well as the body?

It would be easiest to move all of the wiring over including cluster from the 2011. It should be plug & play then.
