6.7 87,000 miles fuel pressure sensor spraying diesel
My truck has given me no major issues since buying it in OCT '10. I did take it in once b/c of a clicking sound when shifting from reverse to drive and vice versa. Now however I have an issue that is really interesting and I would just like to know if I am the only one???
A couple of days ago my truck had the "low fuel pressure" warning pop up and after reading the owners manual it said the first thing you should do is immediately replace the fuel filters which I did along with doing and oil change and a fresh air filter. It ran fine after and although the warning came back on a couple of times by the end of the day it was no longer coming back on. I then sent the truck with a gooseneck trailer on a 500 mile trip and not even half way into the trip my brother pulled over to fuel up and upon exiting the truck he smelled alot of diesel and saw that there was a major issue under the truck with diesel fuel leaking everywhere upon inspection he found that the connector to the fuel pressure sensor was spraying diesel from the top of it. As well as the pig tale that connects to the plug appearing to have some heat damage to the wires and insulation.
HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM????
Also FORD SAYS THE PART IS BACKORDERED AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHEN THEY WILL BE GETTING THEM. They said that there are over 250 backordered across the US. Apparently they are having an issue getting the pieces to manufacture the fuel pressure sensor.
This is a daily work horse and I cannot afford to have it sitting over a $40 part any suggestions?????
Thanks,
