Anyone know when the final cut off for ordering a '16 F350 is?

I'm getting different dates from 3 different dealers. One says that today, 3-25, was the last day to order in the Western NY area. Another says April 4th, and still another says I have until May 4th.

Thanks!!

Many good fleet sources say April 1, 2016. Were you thinking about ordering or just checking?

If I can still get it ordered. . I would pull the trigger. I have 3 different dealers pricing it now for me. Told them up front what I wanted, and that they would be competing to sell me a truck. I know it's probably a questionable strategy. . but. . really, how much "sales" work are they really doing, when I hand them the exact order I want. Sometimes I feel like I know more about the trucks than the sales people. One of the guys told me that I could get the 34 gallon fuel tank in a short box. . and another sales girl wanted to know why I wasn't getting the "sport appearance package" on my order. I know, they have many different vehicles that they need to know a lot about, and possibly don't know everything about everything. But. . when I tell them that I'm a crazy lunatic truck buyer. . that knows quite a bit about these trucks. . and I know what I want. . just trust me, and order what I ask for. Sorry. Rant complete. Long story short(er) if I can still order. I will be.

As soon as you finalize the details and as long as the winning dealer has allocations left for the month and an order gets completed, you should be good to go.

I don't think I can afford the 2017, with the sizeable price increase. . .and further depreciation of my trade. I put about 3000 to 3500 miles a month on my truck. So by August/Sept delivery of the 2017, I would have an additional 15000+ miles on my trade.

Willie77... just curious WHY you are ordering a new truck? Your current truck has the same drivetrain, and is only 4 years old, and you kept your previous truck for 9 years. You keep your trucks bone stock, and manage to eek out many miles of service out of them. Appearance wise, there is no difference between the 2016 you are ordering and the 2012 you already own. So what is it about the 2016 that motivates you to spend many more thousands for essentially the same truck?

(Reading this question back to myself, I can see where it might potentially be misinterpreted as a "challenge" to your decision. It is not. It is intended to be an informative inquiry to discover the reasoning behind keeping the current truck for less than half as long of a period of time than the previous truck, which just so happened to be the truck with the worst reputation for reliability ever, yet you had no problems with it. Given this context, I hope the question makes more sense.)

NYB, no worries. I have several reasons for wanting to order a new one. This may be kind of drawn out, but I will do my best.
First, I will be upgrading from a supercab to a crew cab. Seemed to me that my '03 supercab had more room than the '12. . .also, looking to the future..I will eventually need room for carseats. I am also getting a long box instead of the short box. I started my own business in the fall of 2013. And after the summers of '14 and '15, I found myself wishing I had more room in the bed. Also, the long bed gets the bigger fuel tank. Putting on the miles I do, I find myself at the pump WAY to often. 375 miles between fill-ups has become annoying. Looking forward to the larger fuel tank. So, I guess those are the major reasons, and mainly can be traced to a matter of convenience.

With 136k on the odo, other than regular maintenance, the current truck has cost me very little. But, the time may be coming for wheel bearings, ball joints, and a DPF. Also, the potential cost of a fuel system failure that could strike at any time. I feel that to maximize my trade value, now would be the time to trade. I was hoping things would work out like this: sticker price of $65k, sale price of approx $58k, minus $22k for trade, minus $5k for down payment would take me to $31k before tax. . $34k after tax. Finance $34k keeps me at a similar payment to what I had on the current truck.

With the added room inside and out of the new truck, I would intend on keeping it for quite awhile. Already looking at the DieselSite filter set up. More than likely I would delete after the warranty. . and try squeeze as many miles as I could out of that truck.

Whattaya think?? Make sense??

Makes sense to me. Your current truck has three short comings (pun intended). Too short of a fuel tank, too short of a bed, and too short of a cab. Regardless of cost, that is reason enough to trade, and I think you are wise to go for a time proven 2016 model rather than beta test the all new 2017 body and frame.

The only thing I don't understand is how you can be so lucky. No problems with your 03, no problems with your 12, while everyone else suffers with dropped valves, corroded fuel pumps, plugged egr coolers, cracked radiators, windowed blocks, fubared Powerscope mirror mechanisms, etc, etc.

I'd say you'd be safe in just about anything you pick to drive. The force is with you.

If you want look closely at it, '03 wasn't exactly problem free. Immediately upon purchasing that truck, I bought it used. .I had 3 catastrophic transmission failures in the first 900 miles. The selling dealership covered everything in full. Ended up being a chaffed wire harness on the fire wall. Truck had been in the shop at least 6 times for that. Fast forward to 220k. . and the HPOP issue. First mechanic had the truck 11 days. And couldn't fix the issue. Towed it to the closest Ford dealer. And I was back up and running. Again, I changed the oil every 3000, and fuel air filter ever 3rd oil change. I did transmission filter and fluid every 100k. And wheel bearings, ball joints, u-joints and the like every 100k.

The '12 wasn't exactly trouble free. Before I even ordered the current truck, I was hours away from signing for a 2011 CCSB, until the dealer filled the tank with gasoline. So I ordered the current truck, and had to wait 13 weeks for delivery. After delivery, I complained NUMEROUS times about the AC, even getting Crystal involved to see if I could get the problem rectified. Had numerous appointments with several dealerships resulting in lost time and money. I can laugh at this now, but at the time, I was livid when the female service manager at one dealership told me the AC was just fine. . and that I would have to deal with the max AC temp at 52°. ."BC I was just a big hot blooded man.". Again. Humorous now, but absolutely enraged me at the time. Ultimately, the original dealer repaired the truck after I informed them of a TSB detailing an issue with the plastic molding of the blend door. Dealer eventually replaced the plenum, condenser, compressor, and a few lines. . basically the entire AC system. Over 18 days. . requiring removal of the entire interior. Anyway, while I haven't fought some of the more common issues, I sure have had my fair share. And none of which have left me with an abundant amount confidence in any dealer. Or any amount of customer satisfaction . from any dealer I have dealt with. Being the owner of a business that survives and succeeds BC of customer service, the Ford dealers I have dealt with have never provided me with 100% satisfaction.

Why cant i just walk in to the Louisville truck plant and place my order? Skip the BS. In fact, I'm sure I am not the only one crazy enough & willing pay a premium to tour the plant while truck is being built. Even assist in assembly!! Nothing like being there when ur truck is born. . or better yet. . assisting in its birth. I would pay for that. For sure.

Anyway. We'll see what the dealer's have to say tomorrow!!

Well you seem to have thought it through well enough and I agree wholeheartedly, get a 2016 now if you can. I know i did not want to wait for a "17" and hope it meets all the expectations of the current version.

Good luck and good prices tomorrow!

BTW I registered for a 2017 local first showing / test drive event on Fords Web site. You also get entered into a drawing for a new 2017. Not sure if it's still avaliable but you might want to check it out for fun. I would gladly take one as a gift. Of course then I would have my new 16 and a 17. What could be bad about that? :)

Yikes!!!! Just heard back from 2 of the dealers. $68k sticker price. . down to a $64k sale price. One dealer wants to give me $17k for my '12 . . which leaves me WAY out to lunch on what I was figuring for this deal.

I'm still a little perplexed as to a why can they offer a truck on the lot for $10k off the sticker. . .before even dealing on it? And when I want to order it. . best price they can give me is $4k off??? Apparently the dealers don't "deal", or I'm out to lunch big-time.

Maybe they think at this point ordering is more work for them and they will most likely make more money on the soon to order 17's

Is that $4,000 before or after rebates. Sounds like before rebates because otherwise they are not budging off msrp which is unheard of for a superduty.

If $4k plus rebates, then that is reasonable.. they want to keep their holdback which they should on an ordered truck.

But 17k on your 2012 is insulting depending on mileage.

Neither dealer will discuss dealing down from that $64k price, until the truck is delivered. I'm not very keen on ordering the truck, without knowing the price.

When I ordered my current truck, I had all the finances worked out PRIOR to ordering. But I had to commit to buying the truck. . which obviously I did. I am fine with that type of agreement in this instance. . but they don't seem to be willing.

Mileage is 137k. Took delivery new in the middle of March, '12. 48.5 months ago. 137000 miles over 48.5 months = 2825 miles/month avg. So dealer says in 8 weeks. . he's assuming I'll have 148k to 150k on the truck. And that's why only the $17k trade price. KBB puts my trade between $19.5k and $22k. But, dealers are claiming KBB is irrelevant for them to use.

I found a 2016 CCSB at a dealer about 2 hrs. from me, outfitted with everything I wanted, excepted for the long bed. Sticker is $69k, the dealer price on the internet is listed at $59k. So, maybe my money is better spent elsewhere.

I am quite aways from Scott. Its not too far to be a deal breaker tho.

I thought that he doesn't deal with trade ins?? Doesn't that make things way more difficult if I'm trading a truck?

Rebates here in MI are $4750, so that with X plan gets you about $10k off sticker.

Just sell it private party. Dealers will only give auction value on a trade period. You are leaving thousands on the table if you do that.

Last year just for kicks I went to see what a dealer would give for my 07 Duramax LBZ - 26,000 miles in trade on a 15 SD.

The number came back as $18,500 initially, but crept up to $22,000.

Private party I could have gotten at least $8k-$10k more locally.

Dealers are businesses and need to make a profit.
