Been having this issue for a long time on my 2017 f350 all stock 72K miles. 2 different ford dealers and a egr replaced and still no luck. Happens when engine is cold or when the truck is left idling most of the time and then get back on the road. The turbo seems to over boost and throws a reduced engine power then reduces the power. Turn the truck off and restart and it goes away for a bit. Its hit or miss. Another strange thing is when i notice it happening i can just go easy on the throttle and don't allow the boost to go past the half way mark on the boost gauge and once it gets into 5th gear it will correct itself. You can hear the turbo over boosting and what sounds like the turbo banging the wastegate before it corrects itself as long as im easy on the throttle. If not it throws the error code and goes into reduced power mode until restarted. Its almost like a sensor acts up or something is sticking in the turbo and the ecu corrects it as long as i baby it until it corrects itself. Thanks in advance for any help

Turbos can do that but a biased MAP sensor or EBP sensor could as well. On some occasions I have come across carbon fouled MAP sensors... for anyone paying attention cleaning them will not fix them. Making data recordings of the air management parameters during the over boost condition can be helpful in diagnosing this concern.
