Hi Guys,

Im wondering if and how I can wire in a 24V powered proheat to my 01 f250. As you all know, the ford diesel runs two 12v batteries in parallel, and I would need to run a 24v series circuit. I cant see a solution other than to break down and purchase a 12v proheat instead of the 24v. Im concerned about the charging system if I were to find a solution aswell.

Any insight would be appreciated

Thank you

You can't get both 12 and 24 V with just the two batteries wired in parallel. But you could add a third battery wired with the ground post to hot of the existing batteries and the positive post to your heater and then to ground. But the alternator wouldn't be able to charge that third battery. The only way you could charge it would be with an alternator that was isolated from vehicle ground.

Any 2 voltage sources (like batteries or alternators) can be switched from series (double Volts) to parallel (double Amps) relatively easily, as this diagram shows:

Instead of the winch motor, you'd have your 24V doohickey.
