For those of you running this size. Do they stand taller than the factory 235/85's on factory wheels? Checking out the BFG A/T's and they list as being the same height but the 265's are listed on a 7.5" rim and the factory rims are 7.0" right?

The extra width probably makes them fill up the wheel wells better.

Thanks

Chad, I like the 265's on my factory wheels. The 235's just looked kinda wimpy to me. 265's do fill the wheel well and make the truck stand up a little taller. Pat

In my sig theres several pics of 265 & 315's on stock wheels to help you get an idea of how well they fit with & without a lift.

The 265's are a nice fit but the 315's are too much for a stock rim & getting a good wear pattern is about impossible. (for me anyways)

Cheers

Anyone need some 315's? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've got 285's on 7" rims also. No problems and I've run 3 sets at about 45,000 miles on each set. Just make sure you keep them rotated!!

I dont think I would even go as big as a 315 on this truck. Was looking at the 285's at first, but Im not sure I like how much they stick out in the front. Dont really like the idea of sandblasting the fenders and doors. They would fit on the truck as it has a leveling kit in the front. (Shouldnt have to shim the bumper)

That brings me to the 265. They are only about 1/2" narrower than the 285. Which doesnt amount to much but might keep me satified.

I don't know. Anyone have any thoughts? Mud flaps and 285's would be an option but I was trying to avoid that. The stock 235's stick out at the bottem of the fenders and havent caused any damage yet.

I just put 285's on my truck, and for what its worth, I haven't noticed any more "roadspray" than with the 265's on stock aluminum rims.

Just as info, even with this small of a step up, it does take a little longer to stop, and I lost a little power too.

Thanks for the info. I read on another post here that someone noticed it took longer to stop with the 285's. That also makes me lean towards the 265 for towing. Even though my trailer has brakes. I'm slowly working towards a decision on this. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you want to determine tire / wheel height / width combinations, I made a spreadsheet in excel that calculates it. You can also figure the rpm difference at a given speed.

Or, you can make your own:

Tire factor = (2 x tire width in mm x Aspect ratio) / 100

Tire revs per mile = 20850 / (Tire factor / 25.4) + Rim diameter (in)

N/V = (Final drive ratio x Trans gear ratio (top gear) x Tire revs per mile ) / 60

N/V = engine RPM / Vehicle speed (mph)

ENJOY! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Going by the sizing 265/75 should be basically the same height as a 235/85 as you stated. When I look at a 265/75 though, by being wider, it gives the false impression of being less tall. Maybe just me, but the wide tires just don't look right. Something about an old highboy truck, around 1975 with the thin tall tires that sat high always translated to a good looking truck for me to this day. Wide tires just don't look right. (I guess I already said that). I'll just reinterate.

I never thought I would see it, but I agree wholeheartedly with you on this /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Go with 255\85-16 if you like that look. I feel the same way. I've got this size on my truck and like the look. They are tall skinny 33's.
