Well, was pretty dead set on getting toyo m/t's for my X. But, they are on a national backorder, as I'm sure everyone knows about. What would be my next best choice for an X? I like the more aggressive look. A huge lifted beast like these superduty's and Excursions just don't look right with the tamer All-Terrain tires....IMHO /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I have Pro-Comp M/T right now but they just plain suck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif

I kinda like the look of the Goodyear MTR but have heard it's not a super smart choice due to the soft compound and the weight of an X. The Nitto Grappler is a fine perfomer I'm sure but for some reason they look like giant semi-tires. To me they do anyway. I'm thinking I may just go with the BFG M/T in a 315-75-r16. What would you all do?

Are the Dunlop radial mud rovers or the Big O tire XT any good? Looking to be in around $240 or less/tire.

Any sites to look at lotsa different rigs with tire combos?

Thanks,

Alin

Actually, the Nitto's I was refering to were the Terragrapplers. Does anyone here have a real nice close up of them on your rig? I can get these OTD for less than $800 so I think it's worth looking into. Not sure if the tread is aggressive enough for me though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Birdman,

Thanks for the pics. Those tires must be around 14" wide. How do they look sticking out the sides of the X? What size rims do you have?

Thanks,

Mastercraft Courser C/T

Mastercraft all-terrain

I've found Mastercraft to be a good value. They are longer-lasting and more durable than Goodyears and Firestones.

Terra Grapplers. They are 3x as loud as my BFGs and I'm not impressed w/ the wet weather traction either.

But I like a really streetable tire because I do LOTS of highway miles per year.

I've actually heard that the Toyo mud tire runs quieter and smoother than the Nitto AT.

I just went from 37 Terra grapplers to 38 Toyo muds. While still being quiet for a mud tire (quietest I've seen), the Toyo is substantially louder than my Terra Grapplers. They have a high pitched whine to them at highway speeds. I agree with the wet weather traction being not so great, but I think my Nittos were quieter on the road than my 37 BFG ATs that I had on before them.

Mastercraft Courser C/T tires can do the mudslinging you want, without all the road noise you don't want.

For serious off-roading, Mastercraft offers the Courser MT tire. I haven't heard what these sound like, but they are probably more typical of the road noise you don't want to have to listen to 90% of your driving life.

Close up of Mastercraft Courser MT. I think they just plain look cool. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Mastercraft is made by Cooper Tire, a company with a longstanding reputation for dependable quality and fair prices.

I don't own stock, just some of their tires. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Alin,

What size Toyo were you look for?

If I read him correctly, he is looking for 315/75R-16s.

Your situation is the exact opposite of mine. I found that after around 12,000 miles my BFG's started to get a little louder and were definatly louder than the Nittos I am currently running. I have only put 1,500 miles on the nitto's, so time will tell if they get any louder. So far I like the nitto's better.
