I have a 99 F350 4x4 at 72,000 miles the TC started leaking so I had it replaced. 3 days later the flexplate brakes. I get the flexplate replaced, I run the truck to 95,000 miles and I break the flexplate again. I found TSB about the flexplate and all the parts the needed to be replaced, I have the transmission shop replace all of the parts the TSB said to replace. Now I have 104,000 miles on the truck and I dropped it off at the transmission shop because the flexplate is broken again. So if you are counting that is 3 flexplates in three years. The guy that runs the transmission shop is a friend (they are fixing it under warranty), he called all of the local Ford dealers to see if they have had any problems with flexplates, all of the dealers told him no. So he then tries to order a new flexplate and they are on a nation wide back order. Seem a little strange that something that is not a problem would be on back order. Any one have any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it, or is it time to sell the truck.
