So I bought my 08 Job 3 F-350 in October...it had something like 13 miles on it, almost as new as it gets. So, we've been busy, and we take it every where! We love it! But, I read all these posts about regens, and I haven't experienced one yet...
I've got 4800 miles worth of commuting, towing, hauling, and....no regens. I happened to be looking down at the display on one of our trips and saw the "cleaning exhaust filter" message appear, so I was thinking ok, here it is! And just like that, the message went away. It was maybe there all of 5 seconds....there has got to be more to it than that! The truck gets about 14.5mpg consistantly, and has no sign of any performance issues. Should I be worried that I'm rolling around with a DPF that's getting more and more plugged up everyday, or should I just go with the flow so to speak, and not worry about it? I got the letter in the mail over the weekend about the reflash, but like all reflash's, I'm skeptical about taking it in. But the whole lack of regen makes me wonder if harm is being done.....what do you all think??? Normal, not normal? Is there anything normal anymore?

There is - Mine does the same thing, however if you look at the "system status" and scroll through the list you will see that the last thing there is "cleaning exhaust filter" It lasts about 20 miles of 30 mph or faster of driving.

So I must of had one! I figured it would have stayed on the main screen until completed, had I not caught that message I would have never know it was regenning....

with the new programming the message stays on for the full duration...no programming i had prior to this one showed any indication of a regen and i rarely ever caught it regenning unless i had my programmer on to tell me or unless i noticed the change in the exhaust sounds.

Look on page 120-128 for the 1 button system and 129-140 for the 3 button system

System check for the one button system
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET control switch to select SYSTEM
CHECK when HOLD RESET FOR SYSTEM CHECK is displayed in the
message center. Selecting this function from the INFO MENU causes the
message center to cycle through each of the systems being monitored.
For each of the monitored systems, the message center will indicate
either an OK message or a warning message for two seconds. Pressing
the SELECT/RESET control switch cycles the message center through
each of the systems being monitored.
The sequence of the system check report and how it appears in the
message center is as follows:

What you see is:
1. ENGINE HOURS
2. CHARGING SYSTEM
3. AIR FILTER (Diesel engine only)
4. DOOR AJAR
5. BRAKE SYSTEM
6. FUEL LEVEL
7. TRAILER DISCONNECTED (if equipped)
8. CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER (IF REGENERATING)

Had a regen last night, 2664 miles, this is the first one that I noticed my boost being restricted. I drove until I saw the boost guage come up, then I checked the info center again, and it was cleared.
