Is there a way (besides a dealer) to get more info on these? I'm looking for info on the snow in the air filter one in particular.

Thanks, Tim

Good luck with that one. I have made compalints to my local dealerships (3) as well as Ford Canada. Their comments were don't drive so close to the vehicle in front of you during a snow storm or you are outside of bumper to bumper warranty so there is nothing we can do about it.

You need to use the Winter Grille Cover from Ford to prevent snow from getting into your air intake and clogging up the filter. I made the mistake of not using the cover this winter. It does make a difference. You may also notice Duramax diesels on the road with their grille cover as well. It's not just a Ford thing.

I used the Grille Cover this winter. Never had the snow in the intake problem it just took forever to warm up. With the cover warm ups were much faster. Seemed like mileage went down a little though. I thought maybe because the grill was covered it made the truck more of a rolling brick than usual. Could be wrong JMT.

I had heard rumor (on this site or another?) that part of the TSB was to supply a grille cover to complaining customers of job 1 trucks. Just wanted to what was in the text of the TSB to know if this was true or just a dream. Either way, I'll have one by next winter.

Thanks for being part of an awesome site!

I believe all job 1 trucks sold to Northern states were supposed to already have the cover as a standard item.

I've got a Job1 and can't get a grill cover out of my dealership, believe me I've tried. Feel like a dope going after them for a $100 part. It's the principle, really. I'm more upset about my 3rd set of rusting running boards right now.

I've seen that list of "northern states" on this site. Believe it or not, Connecticut is not a northern state! I guess it never snows here!

I haven't had a true blockage from snow yet, but the filterminder doohickey showed a partial blockage after driving in the snow. Want to avoid future issues if I need to drive in a snowstorm. Funny how it has the snow plow prep pkg. on it, but snow is the achilles heel, huh?

Worst case I'll buy the cover, but thought the new TSB from Ford might be a valid attempt to make things right. Oh well.

My ford dealership told me that the winter front doesn't make any difference. It has to do with where ford decided to pull the cold air from. Until ford comes out with a fix for that it will always be a problem.

I ran cardboard behind my grill all winter. Made a huge difference in warm up time.

I am so dissapointed with the service and product I got from Ford. I buy a new truck that all i have to do is fuel up and drive, and the damn thing is in the shop once a month.

If you want a free winter front all you need to do is call ford customer service, it takes about 10 minutes they will call your dealer to verify it is a problem on your truck. They may not call on this anymore because so many people have done so already not sure though. The new TSB is some sort of gasket/diverter that goes on the air intake somehow. My dealer is going to put mine in on monday.
FYI your mileage should go UP with the winter front because your engine will run closer to proper operating temp and burn the fuel better, plus most engine are designed to put in more fuel when the engine is colder to try to warm it up faster. This is according to my dealer anyway.

I got the same bull**** story from FORD Canada as well. Was on the phone with a guy for 45 minutes and he told me that there is nothing they can do because i am out of my bumper to bumper warranty and if it was a problem on my truck it would have been replaced already. Towards the end he kept saying I was getting hostile and that he was going to hang up on me....
