I tow a fifth wheel toy hauler and I am getting sidewall flex when pulling. I am on a stock 7.5" rim for now with 315's on the truck. I am looking at going to a 9" rim. Will this take the sidewall flex away? BF Goodrich does not recommend a rim narrower that 8.5"

I have a 16x9 on my 315-75-16 D rated tires. I wish I would have either gone with a 10" wheel or an E rated tire. I only tow 6 times a year so, I get thru it.

I would go with an e rating and a wider rim. I have an 06 350 SRW with the 20", goodyear wrangler ATS that are rated E. I have not had any problem yet and I am towing a Puresoprt 2811 with 2900lbs hitch weight. Only towed it about 2500 miles so far but not a problem. Gross trailer weight (with h2o, bikes, gas, and so on) weighs 16500.

How wide is your rim? I don't like the 17's due to the fact that there seems to be a very poor tire selection in this size. I can only go from 285 to 315 with nothing in between. I would not have bought the 315's except I needed to get my truck a little higher due to hunting and additional ground clearance that I need. If anyone has a 10" rim how does it look and is rubbing a issue? I have the F250 with a 2 1/2" leveling kit and I am afraid that a 10" rim will rub.

I tow 18k with 315`s on 10 inch rims with no problem, Very hard on the brakes though. I have no rubbing issues either, 4 inch skyjacker, a 2inch kit maybe cutting it close.

Id like to know how you have "NO PROBLEMS" With 18k behind your truck?

Id done a stupid thing or two in the past... hooking up to 17k was one of them... My truck and trailer weighed 26,000 even.. Putting me 6,000 pounds over GCVW And that 17k wasnt a fun "no problems" pull it was heavy, hard to stop, and not fit to be pulled by my truck.

I will repeat....... i had NO problems pulling 18k, I would not tow on the highway or very fast. 277 Cat skid steer and a Cat 303.5 Excavator on a 10ton eager beaver goosneck. the only problem i have is warping rotors on truck. My neihbor pulls a 420 cat backhoe with his truck everyday Same as mine except longbed stock no mods Its definatly not smart to tow like this but it can be done, maybe your truck is not making much power /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
