I don't post much here, just mostly read through threads for general knowledge and use the search function as problems arise on my rig.

My early 99 with 190k miles began shifting hard between 2nd and 3rd but only when the throttle pedal was about half way or more. Anything close to WOT and it would SLAM into 3rd. Light throttle and it just shifted slow on the 2-3 shift. 1-2 and 3-4 gear shifts were fine. Dropped it off at the transmission shop and the problem was a broken accumulator spring. He replaced all the sets of springs, modulator value, fluid and filter for a grand total $360 cash. I was pretty stoked about the price and relatively simple fix. I hope this post helps someone with similar problems looking for a fix.

I know, very fortunate. I drive over an hour to take to them. Its Action Transmission in Baker, Louisiana. My truck has been going to them since new (my dad the first 100k miles and me since then) for routine fluid and filter changes as well as a flex plate and torque converter replacements. 35k mile interval fluid/filter changes seem to have done the trick for getting me this far without needing a full rebuild (probably just jinxed myself).
