Anyone on the fence about putting a shift kit in their 4R100? I say go for it even if you have a stock truck.

I had Travis at Travis's Automatic Transmissions install a shift kit for me, which was sonnax valves and springs. Man what a difference. Not harsh or really hard at all. Totally fixed my biggest pev with the 2001. That tranny with stock tuning just felt bad to me. So slow and weak feeling in the shifts. I know it has the same power as before but the shift kit made it feel like there is an extra 10HP added at least. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Yes when the mod funds are built back up I will order a chip from them.
probably a 40 tow and 80E. on it. That was the reason for the shift kit installation. But I have to say it makes a stock truck nicer to drive too.

I just ordered a Transgo Reprogramming Kit from bulkpart.com, along with a steel deep sump trans pan/cooler. I need the tighter shifts with my 4 ton beast!

That is why I did the shift kit first. I am going to order the chip without any line pressure increases.

In fact this is the preffered method, increase line pressure mechanically with a shift kit and leave that out of the chip programing.

Agree
Use chip for timing of shift with load.

no, i dont think so. my programmer gives me the options of stock, medium and hard. Ive put it on the medium before and it hits hard, but doesnt hurt anything in the tranny. It will just break ur neck. IMO u will be just fine, even if u didnt get new programs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
