early 99 f250, 4x4, auto 4r100, SRW, 220,000miles, 7.3 diesel. I was towing a trailer and the truck kicked out of overdrive and the off light started flashing on the shift lever. So I continued to drive and it then went to neutral. I coasted to a stop. Temp was normal~175. Trans fluid was at full mark and red, not burnt. So I shifted the the truck in all gears and nothing. So I shut it off and when it started I had first gear only. When I shifted to second it went back to neutral. Turned it off abd started it again and 1st only. So I drove the last two miles in first gear. When I made it into the 1/2 mile long driveway I shifted to 2nd and it went. Then 3rd but still no od. The trans acts like it is lost. I took off again and it took off in 3rd gear and never shifted. This sounds electronic. Codes p1249 wastegate, p0470 exhaust pressure sensor, and p1728 trans slip error. I drove it three miles today and it shifted all over the place and heated up to 210. Seemed to be a noise fromm trans inspection cover while it was idling. Anyone have any idea?

My idea is that something mechanical broke. It sure doesn't sound like it could be the electronics.

I'm having similar problems. I have a 99 f250 4r100 127k miles. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear it starts shifting at 30 mph and finally locks up at 35mph while normal driving. Every other gear locks fine. What could be the problem?? Thanks
