Hey all,

Was scouting a Javelina hunt coming up. Did some decent 4 wheeling up by Prescott.

Anyways, the problem: Using the AC on full blast today, and put it in 4wd. The vent came on and the ac stopped blowing towards the seat.

Naturally I was a little taken aback. Vowed due diligence when I got home to find out what it was.

The 4wd was on.
It kicked the 4wd into 4wd.
Went back to 2wd on command, and 30 secs later the ac resumed.

A few in the forums point to the 4WD Auto Hub Lock Actuator Solenoid Valve. I think this might actually fix the issue, and I'm willing to buy the part to try.

Only thing is- I can't find it =) Any help?

Thanks!

The part is a PHV Solenoid. Amazon lists them for sale - DORMAN 600-402 Four Wheel Drive Hub Locking Solenoid is the one a search turned up.

If you can get a hand-held vacuum tester (Mity-Mite or equivalent) you can check the rest of your 4WD system for vacuum leaks. Low vacuum causes the shift of ventilation to the defroster vents.

Thanks! I should clarify- I have a handle on the part number- where is it located on the truck?

IIRC that valve is passenger side top front CAC and radiator support pass thru.
Not shure if that is what they really call it. Engine compartment side of that little wall.
