Possibly a Mode Select Switch malfunction. Any trouble codes? I think the 4x4 module has it's own self test through a scanner.

Ummm...

Hit me up with your email and I will send you the Ford diagnostics for trouble shooting transfer case and 4 wheel problems. Maybe take a look and decide how involved you want to get. Do the easy tests that you feel comfortable with and then decide.

Well it does narrow it down. Lo works so the hubs are ok, the t case should be ok unless you see trouble in the fluid or noise so it is most likely a switch, servo or solenoid problem....electrical. From there it could be in or out, simple or hard....
