Which has a softer more comfortable ride in the new Ford Superduty? The 4x4 or 4x2 and what is the explanation for this?

I had a 2000 f250 4x2 that rode like a truck (my other car is a Lincoln) I now have a 2002 f350 SRW both trucks are supercab eight foot beds, there is night and day difference in coils vs leaf springs MUCH rougher ride in the 4x4 but hey it's a super duty not a Continential I didn't buy it for the ride otherwise I'd have bought a Mark LT.

These are trucks, if you want it to ride a luxury car, put about fifteen hundred pounds in the bed, nice soft cushy ride. The moter won't even know it's there. Fuel bill is a different story.

I have the FX4 and 9800 gvwr package. When only carrying fuel and a tool box the ride is quite comfortable, more comfortable than my 2001 explorer was.Add 500 pounds and it stiffens up big time. I dont know if its due to the rancho shocks , a progressive spring rate,or the weight of the transfer case.

Dunno - I've always had 4wd trucks.

I would rather ask about model yr. The 05's changed to a coil front suspension that helped with ride and turning radius.

Adding half a ton in the back will help smooth the ride out.

Like it says in my sig I have 2 06's and one is a 4X2 and the other a 4X4. the only other difference is the 4X2 is a reg cab and in my opinion the 4X2 is much smoother and both have coil springs in the front end.
