I have a 2001 F250 with about 30,000 miles on the truck. It has a 4 inch Skyjacker lift, & 35's. Other than that it is a stock truck. The hubs when not engaged rattle as I go down the road, has anyone else had a similiar problem, and how did you fix it?
Thanks

Are you sure its the hubs and not the spindle bearings?

Are ya'll getting a rattling sound when you hit a bump? Does it go away when you lock the hubs?

If it is the wheel bearing, you have to replace the entire hub right?

I have been chasing a rattle for a while. Thought I had it fixed with the anti rattle clips on the brakes. That didn't do it. I have replaced seals and spindle bearing to no avail. I guess the only thing left is the wheel bearing.

I just hate guessing and buying and replacing parts. I can't duplicate the noise with the wheel off the ground. As I turn the tire I can't hear any grinding or anything.

I have the same sound and thought it was hubs too. I recently put new tires on and left the center caps off for a few days and started to hear that clicking sound from the front end. I grabbed the end of the hub and could move it up and down slightly, duplicating the sound. I snapped the center caps on and haven't heard it since. I never even though it would be wheel bearings.

Whats the difference between spindle bearings and axle bearings. And wouldn't those still rattle when the hubs are engaged? I took the hubs out, and looked inside, no extra grease so I don't think anything is leaking however there are a couple spacers/washers that seem to be clanking around. Is that normal?
