For mine, I ordered the package but I am thinking with the short bed you have to order the hitch from Ford parts department. I have the part number somewhere but I cannot find it. I do know it is a slide hitch.

They must have 2 different hitches depending on short bed and long bed because my hitch in the dually is definitely not a slider.

The fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep pkg is a Reese Elite Series install pkg (underbed rail kit) already installed on the truck by the Ford assembly line, plus it includes the 7-pin trailer plug in the bed, plus the hole in the bed where you would install the optional gooseneck ball. The prep pkg is a bargain compared to buying it from a hitch store and then pay the hitch store to install it or DIY. For longbed pickups only, with the new truck you can also order the 25k Reese Elite fifth wheel hitch that plugs into the prep pkg, but it is not a slider. Last I heard, Ford parts sells only the 25k hitch, and does not yet sell the 18k slider hitch.

For a shorty pickup, order the fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep pkg on the new pickup, then order a Reese Elite 18k fifth wheel slider hitch from another source. The hitch easily plugs into the prep pkg. Here's one source for the Reese Elite slider hitch:

When I ordered my F-350 short bed in June, the Ford online build your own truck system said that I could get the fifth wheel prep package. However when the dealer tried to enter it into his order system, the Ford computer rejected it. I now plan to get a aftermarket B&W instead when my truck arrives.
