Hi All I have a 2007 F 350 Now that when It gets hot It will not start. It has a new HPOP Fresh oil. When the engine is cold it starts fine with no problem. I checked it with a scanner and it is not building high oil pressure when hot. I can let it cool for a couple hours and it will crank and run until i shut it down then no start. Any Ideas where to start looking Thanks Jimmy

Hi All Well I had a little time today and done a little checking. I know for sure that when the engine gets hot I am loosing High oil Pressure. The scanner showes it at 265 pounds. I pulled the sen out of the valve cover and installed a manual gauge and only had 260 pounds. I feel that is not an electrical problem. I will start doing the air checks tomarrow. What really gets me is that you can start it and run it all day as long as you do not shut it off. But ounce you shut it off it is not going to crank back until it cools down. Thanks All Jimmy

I just bought a 2007 F350 also and I am experienceing the same problem. It runs great but if I shut it off it won't start. I just got it back from the dealer yesterday. They replaced the sct fitting off the hpop and the plugs underneath the valve covers. Not sure, Is there anything else to look at? weak injectors?

They just did the STC work and the dummyplugs and standpipes and it is still having warm start issues ,,,, is this correct, or are you wondering if they addressed all of the weak points?

Yes, the dealer made it sound like those were the ares that were causeing my prob, but I just got back from driving it around for awhile, pulled in the driveway, shut it off and then won't start again. So still having the same problem.

The injector o-rings at the oil rail connection are also somewhat common leak points - especially if the oil rails are not re-installed properly.

I would take it back and talk to them about getting it fixed - and they shouldn't charge you any labor cost since they were into the system and didn't fix it, IMO anyway.

At a minimum, they should do the diagnostics for free and tell you if you still have low pressures in the high pressure oil system (ICP values). Get the engine good and hot before you take it to them and have them do the diagnostics right then (when it doesn't start).

because you have an 03, you dont have an stc fitting, which was a common leak in 05-07. unfotunately, your icp sensor is almost below the turbo where in 05, they moved it to the passenger side valve cover. first palce to start is to take a look at icp sensor. if it and the wire harness have oil on them, they need to be replaced. some people pull the sensor and check pressure with a manual gauge. if thats not the problem, its probably stand pipes or dummy plugs which are under the valve covers.

The ICP was moved in 04 (some 04's are behind the turbo and some are on the passenger valve cover).

The 03's have different standpipes and do not have the dummy plugs. The standpipes are not as common of an issue on the 03. For that model year, a high pressure oil issue (if you have one) is more likely to be a leak at an injector o-ring (at the oil rail), an HPOP discharge o-ring, or the HPOP isteslf.

Thanks for all the info I've had an injector that has been working when cold but as the engine warms it quits firing off so I'm betting injector seal kits are probably a good start just reinforced to get as much info as I can before beginning tear down

new development

Ok so I hooked up to a snap on odb2 scanner and found that there we're several problems map sensor, crank sensor, can, sensor, egr out of range, cylinder 2 not contributing, so loooks lie a new wire harness may be in order any thoughts?

cam sensor and crank sensor codes are most likely from not getting sync (ie it is likely that there are no issues w/ these sensors or the wiring).

What code numbers did you get?

not started iind problem

I have a 2007 ford f450 6.0
it not want to started and some times started but when is cool
but not in hot after turn off
I find the problem it was the dummy plugs
but before I find that I install injectors computer and a lot sensors?
fist think to check before buy parts ?
Dummy plugs on both sides head covers it have 2 on both sides
the most common need replace is the short ones
if easy job to do just take off dummy plus not more parts ?

1# other problems with this truck is the fuel tank very common
you need to inspected that , if fuel tank paint off or rusty can by damage all injector
#2 scanner the injector computer for right voltage
#3 Dummy plus ?
