My truck is probably on of the 73,000. I still have the first design plastic duct with the thin clamp. I think it says to torque to 8 or nine pounds. Does this mean we will get letters or have to find out by going to the dealer and getting work done?

I have the same build date and do NOT have the plastic CAC - aluminum I believe it is. My CAC systems has held tight since new.

Well, I figured I would stop by the dealer and see if the recall was true. He pulled up an oasis on my truck and the two recalls were added as of today. There is 2 or 3 kits they must order. The ICP connector replacement kit is one of them. The next one was a suprise. The cold air CAC duct is to be replaced with an all metal duct with rubber boots just like the hot side. I guess they finally decided that the original design was the best. They also told me that they would inspect the wiring harness and order that later if anything was wrong. They had no idea about the recall until I came in. When they seen it was true they just shook they heads, they were just thinking about all the trucks that they will have to do. They ordered my parts and said they would call. I am sure they will probably be on national backorder.

I just bought a used '04. My build was 07/03. I won't get the letter because I'm not the original owner. Short of a trip to the dealer, is there a way to get more info on the trucks impacted by the recall?

This goes out to anyone that has an 04 Model Year if you would like to email the last eight digits of your VIN to [email protected] we will be happy to run an OASIS and tell you whether your truck is affected or not. PLEASE if the last eight digits does not start with the # 4 please do not email us your vehicle will not be affected by these recalls. I honestly think we are going to see several Customer Satisfaction Programs on the 6.0 in the next weeks. For those of you that don't know the difference between a Customer Satisfaction Program and a Safety Recall is this. Customer Satisfaction Program the vehicle has to present some of the symptoms of the paticular program and the time that it will be "Free" is a specific date range. On the other hand a Safety Recall is done no questions asked for the life the vehicle as far as I know. I filed warranty at this dealership for awhile and I can remember filing a recall on a 79 F150 just 2-3 years ago and we got paid on it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Just punched mine in which I know would be affected due to the plastic CAC tube. Said there were no recalls for this vehicle.
I did have the tube replaced back a few months ago, but it was just an updated version of the plastic one with a wider clamp. I was under the impression at the time that it was going to be the metal one with rubber boots, and questioned the tech about it then. As of January or so, that was the one they were replacing it with.
Getting the metal one will be worth the trip to the dealer. Pulling the travel trailer over the holiday weekend I saw 30.1 # of boost one time. Most so far and got me thinking about that tube holding up.
Now to get the padlocks back out for the data port to avoid the dreaded reflash... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

AFFECTED VEHICLES

Certain 2004 model year F250/350/450/550, Excursion vehicles built from September 29, 2003 through May 31, 2004.
Certain 2004 model year E350/450 vehicles built from December 9, 2003 through May 28, 2004. Affected vehicles are identified in OASIS.

This is an inspection only. If your truck is stalling then we inspect it for the wires rubbing and damaged. Depending on the condition of the wires it may only get a shield and rerouted or it may need a new loom if it is bad. This really is not too much help because if your truck was stalling a good tech would have found this within minutes.

Cant you just go here to find out?

That won't show customer satisfaction campaigns, and I'm not even sure it'll show every safety recall. Dale's offering an OASIS check, which is sure to show everything.

Thanks Dale, called my Service Advisor and he ordered the Kit for the wiring harness and said the other recall would be done also. You are one of the many reasons this site is so great. Deac

Thanks Dale. Email on the way. My 2004 F250 PSD last 8 VIN numbers start with the number 4.

Thanks for running the VIN on my truck...looks like mine is also affected. Is there a time limit on these recalls? Or can I wait until a few of them pile up and get them done all at once? Hopefully there won't be too many, but it sounds as if there may a couple more to come. Thanks again!
