Im getting a new truck 2mrrw. my dad keeps telling me i am getting a 04 6.0 but im still thinking to myself y do i want a motor that has so many prob. although it has more power. i have had two 7.3's and i have loved them both. im the kind of guy that takes a truck and does as much as possible to it and im thinking that exhaust and intake are the only things u can upgrade on a 6.0 without blowing the head gasket and more. do yall think i should stick with the 7.3 or am i completely wrong about the 6.0 and should give it a chance?

I have had both and really enjoyed my 7.3. Used it everyday pulling heavy loads and general driving. Sold it with 150k miles on it and only put front brakes and a clutch in at 110k miles. The 6.0 on the other hand, currently have an 04 and HATE IT! Biggest POS I have ever owned.

If you truly want gobs of power. Get the Cummins. I have seen way too many Cummins in the 500+HP. range.

According to the guys at a local dyno shop, there is a highly modded 6.0 in the St. Louis area that has put out high 500's on their dyno. Don't know a thing about it at this point, since I have not a clue who he is, but that is the story they are telling.

I'll take my 6.0 over my old 7.3 any day.

Ain't that the truth. I can't wait to get this 05 properly broke in so I can start the real fun! Although for stock this dang thing moves for a big ole 8,000lb truck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Which engine has a longer production run and/or more made ? I like longevity and parts availability. but if you want to blast and dont care how long it last and money is not a problem. I'd get a 6.0. (my .02)

If you honestly want to do EVERYTHING to the motors, then the 7.3 currently is the winner in all-out modified form. The 7.3 is capable of over 680hp. I have not seen a 6.0 in that league. There could be, but I haven't seen one. As far as the cummins. Please, they are so far out of our reach right now it's rediculous. I watched two in kentucky that were sick. One dynoed 754hp and the torque shot of the dynojet chart really quick and didn't break back into the graph until way late in the run. That was on #2 only! I also saw a cummins that "only" made like 667 while spinning the wheels inside the tires on the rollers. The next day he ran a 10.77 @ 122mph. #2 only as well! Course there was a cheby that made 772.5hp spraying the crap out of it. But 772.5 nonetheless. We've got our work cut-out for us. But currently, the 7.3 holds the title between the fords in all-out modified form. If you just want to plug something in, and go have a good bit of fun, the 6.0 is great for that. As long as it doesn't lift a head. Pick whichever you want, but if you can't wait on the stroke, the old doodge is the killer right now and always has been. Hopefully we'll catch em some time soon. Darn doodges. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif
