Hey everyone so I was having a problem with my 6.0. Every time the truck would shut off for a hour, I would start it and it would misfire. No code but would shake horribly. If I started to drive and gave wot for a second or 2 it would go away. Eventually it got stuck pretty bad one day and threw a code for #3. Buzz tested to confirm and no click. Got the money to have them sent to Holders diesel, where they bumped them up from 175/30 to 205/30. They also checked all injectors for issues and I labeled all of them and #3 had a bad solenoid which was replaced. Put them in and problem solved.. for 2 days. 2 days later code for #7 now with same symptoms, except it only misses for a few seconds at idle on startup and then goes away without having to give it throttle. Buzz tested and won't click when cold, clicks when warm. My question is what makes this happen and is it another solenoid?

Experts will hopefully chime in here, but it is my understanding that injectors seldom throw injector codes however the FICM will. That would also explain the issue moving around to different cylinders. Connectors on the bottom of the FICM and the associated harnesses could also be involved.

If injectors are actually being killed off, low fuel pressure can be the culprit of that and static at idle pressure testing is not guaranteed accurate. A fuel pressure gauge needs to be connected so that the gauge can be strapped to a wiper or somewhere that it can be read while driving and the truck needs to be run fairly hard to see if it maintains adequate pressure.

Hopefully those more educated on this will reply as well and add to this.
