Here’s what iv got
My dad and I have 2 work trucks. One is a 05 with 160000 miles, the other a 2006 with 130000. Both are 6.0ls, have auto Trans, and 4x4. They are identical twins except for the year. Both bone stock. We bought them both used
The whole time we have had the 05, it has been good. It feels smooth and refined and has a very smooth injector sound when driving it and accelerating. its smooth like you’re driving a space ship or something

The 06 has been different since the 1st day we got it. It just doesn’t sound the same. At idle it is the same, but it just doesn’t sound as fine tuned, technological, smooth, and refined, what ever you want to call it.
It just seems a tad rougher and louder. No startup problems. No exhaust leaks runs pretty good, but just doesn’t 'feel' like the 05.
Compare a 7.3 to a 6.4 or 6.7. That’s what the difference is like between our 2 trucks.
Could it be injectors?
Please help.
Thanks

since we have owned them they have put on about 20k miles each. always change the oil and filter (motorcraft) every 5k miles.
the 06 has just 1 code. p0401. i assume it is from cokeing in the egr cooler. this is the bad part. it had idled alot in the past. was a company truck. it has over 7400 hours on it with only 130k miles. the 05 hass only 3500 hrs on it. that why im not suprised about the restricted egr. I put a new egr valve in 4 months ago but no difference.

I would check and clean the IAT and Maf sensors first...you should always monitor the cooler temps with an edge insight or scan gauge II as well...b

I would start simple maybe some Rev-X in the oil i would switch to a full Syn oil something like Rotella 5w40 if you are useing dino run cetane boost in the fuel and once a week drive it like you stole it to keep the turbo and egr valve clean and keep the idle time down you should have a fuel pressure gauge on it because under 45lbs kills injectors.
