I am in the process of replacing my 4r100 with a ZF-6. I have a question about the flywheel. Is there a spacer that goes between the crankshaft and the flywheel? The parts guy at ford told me i needed F4TZ-6A366-A but when I look it up it seems to be for the auto tranny. Thanks.

Flywheel = Manual transmission
Flexplate = Automatic transmission

Some folks on here seem to think everything is a flywheel which makes searches long and tedious looking through post after post of "My flywheel broke, etc, etc, etc..."
It always ends up being their flexplate that broke on their 4r100!

I don't remember having one. But I don't remember much from yesterday either.

When I tore mine appart there was no spacer in there... there was a spacer looking washer AFTER the flywheel though if I remember correctly.

I remember it the same way as the other guys. Although like barnbuilder, I sometimes have trouble remembering what happened yesterday.

Flex plates are probably thinner than the flywheel, hence the need for a spacer on them.

I also seem to remember a ring that would serve as a washer for all the bolts (on the tranny side of the flywheel between the bolt heads and flywheel). It's been a couple years since I did mine, and I did one in my son's F150 since that time, so I'm not 100% sure either.
