Since you changed the manual lift pump check the pressure of the fuel.......

Do a pressure and flow test of the fuel pump at the Schrader valve on the filter header (FSS- fuel shutoff solenoid disconnected on IP). Remove the tire valve core and hook a hose and pressure guage on it should see 4-6 psi when starter cranking engine over. Then do a fuel quantity test same place, should see 1/3 pint in 10 seconds of starter engine cranking, route fuel to a suitable container with a hose. When all finished hook up the FSS wire .

Some IPs have an ability to pull fuel....... if your installation of the new lift pump is incorrect it can fail ASAP after install. There should have been a paper in the box re this info.
.......................................................

This info pertains to Carter #M60278 pump or new long arm style.

WARNING

This fuel pump must be installed only at the low position of actuator cam.

If the pump is installed at any other position than low cam, the pump will be ruined, the engine will stall and damage may result.

Incorrect installation will loosen the pivot pin and allows the pin and lever to come out of the pump and drop into the oil pan. This can occur immediately or after several hundred miles. This type of failure is not covered by warranty.

To ensure that the cam is at low position, it is necessary to use a mirror and a remote starter switch. Observe the cam through the mounting port and bump the engine around until a one (1) inch wide machine surface is observed. This is low position of the cam. Now complete normal fuel pump installation.

i did the test and it checks out a 6 psi and it seems as if there is air getting into the fuel line if i drive it easy it does not sputter but if i get on it at all it will start to sputter until it is shut off and restarted i changed the pump after it was already doing the sputtering thinking it was the pump as of now i got new filters new lift pump new tank new fuel line to tank solinoid to switch from front and rear tank and no such signs of it being any better:icon_mad: all i did was take tank out and put new a one in nothing else and it starting the sputtering right after reinstalled it is quite unclear to me on how it is even possible to start so instant when nothing else was tampered with

Thanks a BUNCH for your help!!

It sounds like maybe one of the "O" rings on the fuel supply line is not sealed. At idle there is very little demand for fuel, as you get on it, the fuel pump will pull more fuel and if there is a breach, it can create a "vacum" so to speak and draw air in.

Did you replace the line seal on the top of the lift pump to filter header.........

Check my pics under my name for steel line seals.........select 90 per page.....

Did you check the rubber fuel line to the lift pump inlet from the cross over steel line, quite often they get cracked, or the hose crimps due to no pigtail curl in the hose.

it has rubber line from the rear tank to the tank solinoid im just thinking it is from the sooliniod to the filter head because it runs the same way on both if the tanks i checked and didnt see anything wrong with the fuel lines im going out to the shop and tinker with it more

Thanks a bunch!!
