I just recently bought a 1988 ford f-250 7.3L idi and the guy told me its not running because it needs primed. Dont know much about this so was just wondering if anyone could lead me in the right direction?
Assuming PO was being honest with you, it really does matter what he meant by "priming" because it could mean several things. It won't start without starter fluid? It needs the air bled out of the fuel line? If the former, oh so many possibilities (all bad). If the latter, maybe you do it once or twice and you're lucky and it solves your problem. And the steps to do this you will find by searching "bleed air" on this forum. Rich
To prime it, IF that's the problem, back off all the steel lines at the injectors about one turn. Then crank the engine until you see small amounts of fuel squirting out of the steel lines. Tighten the lines back up then try to start it.
