hey i have a 1994 f250 7.3l idi non turbo truck and it will not crank. like at all. it had cranked fine all the time until this morning and it just stopped, whenever i turn the key to try and start i get this solid click, only one, that sounds like it is coming from the starter solenoid. i replaced the solenoid and thats not the issue it still does the exact same thing. the batteries had been getting low and the truck required a lot of cranking in the morning to get it started but it stopped starting at all like a week ago, i tried charging the batteries, jump starting it, attaching a third battery and nothing worked, it would crank but not start. this morning i tried spraying starter fluid in and jumping it again and it cranked at a slow but steady pace and then all of a sudden wouldnt crank anymore. checked the batteries and theyre at around 12.5 each so low charge but not low enough that it shouldnt crank. is this the starter? just wondering what people thought before i shelled out $130 for a new starter thanks

check every conection from your batteries to your srarter, you could have a lose or melted turminal if it got to hot. make sure when cranking over pretty much any engine not to do so for over 30 sec, its bad for the started, battery, and cables. it hurts a start cranking it over with low volts as well.

If all else fails (batteries, starter, relay etc...), pull the glow plugs out and crank the motor over either by hand or with the starter to see if any coolant comes out. From cavitation or headgasket. I had a 6.5 hydrolock on me once and thats how I freed it up.
