hi new to the group looking for thought i have a 99 7.3 f250 lifted an i was driving down the highway down hill 2000rpm no knock smoke nothing an it just blows a rod thru the oil pan i have never seen that the only smoke is upon stort up an promptly goes away i believe an injector was going bad but will that really blow a rod through my oil pan ? i had just changed the fuel filter an put a quart of injector cleaner an fuel stabiler due to water in my system all fluids chaged prob 6 or 7k earlier 40 percent towing no engine mods at all 230000 miles turbo only had slight blow by oil temp was good
i put the cap on oil filler while it was running an it didnt move

Go buy a lottery ticket. The 99 has the forged steel rods, so you'd think that was next to impossible. I'd almost be willing to bet the autopsy will show something else failed first. Still, with millions of those rods in service, I guess there has to be a flawed one out there somewhere.

Have you owned it since new? Maybe a previous owner abused it or ran real hot tuning.
