So here's the skinny... within the last month I have replaced the CPS, IPR, changed the oil... checked the coolant level... checked the HPOP oil level... replaced the EBP sensor along with the pipe... before it would start, but just barely... it seemed to help a little when it was plugged in, but not much. I had to go out and start it at lunch otherwise it wouldn't start... it was 70 degrees out at the time. It sounds like it just won't "catch"?? i can turn it over and it sounds like it wants to take off and start, but won't. I am getting fuel to the fuel bowl and everything looks fine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!

It sounds Like you may have an oil related problem,,Ipr o rings or may be an injector o ring problem, maybe poppet clearence,,,PM Excavator , he knows alot abot the injector clearence... Is the crankcase full of oil ?....How old is it?...

*UPDATE*

Just barely got it to start and took it for a short drive. As your going down the street it barely moves until you put it to the floor and then it surges and takes off... at that point it starts to run smoothly and continues to... it's like it has to clear it's throat before it will run right... any ideas????

yep... checked the oil and it was a little low, so i added about half a quart to make sure... i had an injector buzz test done and CCT done as well about 2 months ago... thanks for the post though... it's always good to start with the simple stuff...

EBPV shut down hard? If it stuck closed, will it start? Not sure. Seems like it would be kind of like plugging a gasser exhaust with a potato. Could it also possibly be dirty connections on the UVCH? Just kinda throwing stuff against the wall, see if something sticks. Or jogs someones mind.

The next time it won't start try jumping it off and see if it starts up. I understand it turns over strong but the batteries could still be a little weak. It doesn't take much low voltage to keep them from firing up.

the EBPV being stuck closed is what it sounds like, but i'm not sure how to fix that... I also just had the batteries tested recently (with the oil change) and i was just thinking about the UVC harness, but it just doesn't sound right. I did fix the drivers side UVC because it came loose about three months ago... I feel like i spend more time fixing the truck than driving it...

You can try wiring the EBPV valve open, just for test purposes.

I may try that just as a test... it also acts like it is low on oil, but it's not... i may do the UVCH just for peace of mind... i may run it over to the shop i go to and have them do another injector buzz test... thanks for all the help!! keep the ideas coming when you get them... i sure appreciate it!!!

Sounds like what my problem is. My truck had no power as well a couple of months ago for about three hours, it was slow to come up on power and then it would run like a bat of hell. Now it won't start. How do you wire the EBPV open?

Coat hanger, zip ties (they would probably melt), baling wire. Gotta be some way. Hard part is getting your hands down there without dismantling the truck.

Bend a hook on the end of the hanger & fish it down there. Looking down on it from the top, It needs to move clockwise to open....
