So I am hauling two horses to the vet yesterday when the battery light comes on....oh cr*p! I am only about an hour away from my destination, but I figure I had better be safe than dead on the side of I-26 in 95 degrees and 25 mph wind. I pull off into a gas station and get the ponies under the shade of the gas pumps. I call Pulliam Ford and a friend with a truck. Friend picks me up and Pulliam picks up the truck.
Turns out a frayed wire was shorting out and ate the top alternator..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/depressed.gif So 24 hours and 700 dollars later I got back on the road.....I suppose I should thank my lucky stars that I noticed the durn thing before it gave up completely. I also guess that at 231K miles it really isnt that unexpected. SO glad I have this place to come to for my truck.....

$700 is totally outrageous, but what else could you do? Now as for 95 degrees, I'd like to think you are pulling my hind leg. It was beautiful here in the Seattle-Tacoma area today. Might have even gotten up to 65.

It was 95 degrees in Columbia SC moday afternoon....dropped to 77 after a cold front came through about 6 pm. Before that, even the wind was HOT.
And yeah, I know I got robbed, but without time or access to here, there was really no choice but to go with the stealership.

You always have a choice, you just made the most epensive one. But Hey sometimes a down truck costs more than a stealership repair. Guess I am lucky I have more time than money, well maybe not????

I'm north of him and temps hit 93 that day here.

With him having to take care of horses too and worry about the truck....I can understand simply taking the truck to a dealer. (Although that dealer sure raked him over the coals making for an even hotter day)

100 degrees in San Antonio yesterday. Fighting with the wifes X and can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I'm over $700 and counting. Since it isn't a Powerstoke the questions go to another board. I keep telling her we need to get another diesel. I will for sure brew my own fuel.

Man it's nice to have a friend with a tow truck, '99 International 4700 Roll Back. He saved me once so far when my water pump went out. He's only had the truck since fall and he towed me in Feb and said my truck is the first time he really felt the load back there. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif His truck road real nice and smooth with my truck on the back.
