does anyone see any issues with this swap? i see the whole tranny and transfer case are shorter, but the driveshaft length from the carrier to the pumpkin are the same. how much will i have to worry about hanging the clutch pedal? is the firewall reinforced where the master cly bolts up?

thanks!

Are you changing an auto to a T19? If so, you'll need the clutch pedal assembly, master/slave cylinders, and the correct T19 specific flywheel and clutch. I have a T19 behind a 7.3 IDI but, the truck was a manual from the Factory. The firewall reinforment is not going to be there on a factory auto.

Also you have a PM.

You will have to find a different clutch pedal assembly. I bought an '87 parts truck for a ZF-5, and apparently Ford switched the pedal setup between the late 80s and 92+ body style. That being said, who knows, a T-19 pedal assembly could be the same between the 80s and the 90s (having a ZF-5).
But I'd assume it won't work- you can get a pedal assembly out of any 92+ truck as far as I know- mine came out of a 1/2 ton.

I just completed a swap from a 86 F350 to a 89 F250. Took out a C6 auto and put in a zf5. If you have the doner truck it's a piece of cake. You'll need to get the trans, flywheel, drive shafts, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, and the yoke from the rear end.Everything pretty much bolts right up. The only thing I had to find was a peddle assembly for my 89. These assemblies were the same from 80-86 then changed from 87-91, and then again from 92-96. Found mine at a wrecking yard for $75.00. You'll have to short the wires that went to the neutral safety switch in the auto or the starter won't work.Took my son and i bout 10 hrs to complete.

Good info on the pedal assembly years htrotte- I did my ZF-5 swap about 3 years ago in my '94 and at that point realized the pedal assemblies varied, but at what points in time was a mystery.
For the sake of curiousity, do you know if any manual pedal assembly (from the same body style as the swap is going into), will work? By that I mean will 1/2 tons work in 3/4+ ton trucks? I know I got my pedal assembly out of a 1/2 ton.

As per Fomoco, 92 and up don't need reinforcement. It's already built into the pedal assembly.

Pedal assemblies were generic and fit the body style, not the specific application.. F150-F250-F350

The pedal assemblies should be the same whether gasser or diesel from 1/2 ton thru 1 ton.

Know anything about firewall reinforcement kits? Does Ford offer one?

I honestly don't know. The '89 had one in it when I purchased it. I would try the stealership first, and if they say it's obsolete I could remove mine sometime and give you dimensions. It's just a half-moon kind of shaped piece of stamped steel that sandwiches between the firewall and the nuts that go onto the master cylinder studs.
