We have a 8V92 Detroit Diesel with turbo. In the last year we have been experiencing a gradual loss of power. It has gotten so bad now that we have trouble pulling most hills. Any suggestions on what we can try? I have been told that it may be the accelarator cable stretched out.

If your filters are OK then the cable would be the next thing to check. The cable doesn't normally stretch, but attachment points can loosen, shift, or wear. With someone operating the throttle pedal note the limits of travel of the governor arm. Now detach the cable and move the arm by hand. It should go solidly against a stop on each end. Was it getting the full travel with the cable attached? If not, look for loose or worn parts at both ends of the cable.
