My ALT belt even when tight shakes as it makes the round. It is kinda of a flutter back and forth. Hope this makes sense.

Any Ideas?

This is normal. DON'T over tighten the belt. Look at the Alt Belt link in my sig for solutions.

yes, that's normal, the lower your idle speed the more it flaps. Get the ambulance belt, adding an idler is optional but highly recommended. Or you can do like me and get a shorter belt that only goes between the water pump and the alternator.

Thanks guys. MLSC, can you give me the part number on that belt. I just spent $82.00 on gates belts at O'reilly, ouch. any cheaper places to find belts?

I run Gates belts actually, you do get what you pay for ;-) Part number is 13A1080, this is for the Green Stripe XL belt.

There is a good chance your water pump pulley may be bent, be sure to check it before you install new belts.

How do you check if it is bent?

While the belts are off spin the water pump pulley and hold a screw driver next to it and in front of it to observe any wobble, or use a dial indicator.
