Crazy sudden hot start & stalling issue.

Truck ran fine until suddenly, no hot start, stalls easily when you lift your foot off the accelerator pedal.

Starts fine cold.

Shell Rotella Dino oil (changed maybe 500 miles ago)
Batteries are checked good 12.5 volts
New IPR "O" rings (maybe 1000 miles)
New CPS (maybe 2000 miles ago)
New fuel filter & screen cleaned (when I did the IPR "O" rings)
Fuel pressure at idle at schraeder valve over 55psi

For a while the truck has had a habit of being funky returning to idle, when hot when lifting off, so that on returning to idle the engine would get all "fluffy" & wobbly as if there was a miss at say 950rprm down to 750 rpm. Then drop down to a steady idle

What's left injector poppets? Injectors themselves?

There has been an intermittent noise from the passenger bank that I would swear sounded like a ticking lifter, not all the time, come and goes.

I had similiar issues two Christmas's ago.

Ended up being a torn o-ring on a injector. It would start on cold oil becuase it could build pressure, but it would not start hot unless you ethered it.

Replaced icp, ipr -orings, then a whole ipr, had it in two shops, finally found that it was one injector bleeding all the hpo from the system.

It was suggested here that I pull a valve cover to see if any injectors were dumping oil out the return tube. I didn't because the o-rings were not that old. Had I listened I would have saved a bunch of money.

Might want to check that.............

Will do Mark, many thanks

Do you know if I need to use a new valve cover gasket when remove the cover (s)?

So I took the valve covers off.

The oil "spurts" I am looking for is pulsing out a return tube, back towards the head, correct?

Pretty much ALL of the injectors have different flow rates for the oil. Some it pulses cleanly some is more of a dribble. When I remove the solenoid, to adjust the 4mm underneath, as I adjust the 4mm bolt there is a 1" square plate that is moving around.

Do I need to ensure that the 1" plate is square when I replace the solenoid and that it does not touch the spacer that the solenoid also rests on?

Many thanks
