I would think it would have trouble getting a shift command, because of the computer in the 97. I don't know, that would just be my guess. The trans. in the 93 is fed from the speed sensor, and the tach. sensor. the 97 is too, but it is all fed to the on-board computer, then to the trans. I don't think they would be compatible, but I've been wrong before too. There also might be a way to switch all of that stuff over. In which case, I don't see any reason it won't work, they will definitely bolt up. I am running a ZF5 from an 89 on my 93.

It's been awhile, but I think if you change the TRS on the driver's side of the trans and the solenoid body it should work fine. The other difference is that the torque converter on the '93 has four studs and the torque converter on the '97 has six studs.
