I have a 97 cube van with a 7.3 and a e4od with 220000 km transmission works perfectly...always has...HOWEVER for about the last year or so when the tranny is hot i have to rev the engine a bit in order to get her to shift into reverse...all forward gears work fine at all temps and once engaged reverse works fine as well. lately she's been getting worse to the point that i cant get it to go into reverse at all when shes hot....if i shut it off and let it sit...for even 15 min..it shifts into r just fine... I'm very reluctant to purchase a new trans when this one is fine....oh by the way no codes come up any ideas guys?

sounds like a sticking valve in the valvebody or a leaking acumulator piston

THANKS, your opinion coincides with that of a friend of mine who's a mechanic for a FORD dealership in my area. I have another question: How can I fix this problem (temporarily or permanently) without having to rebuild my tranny?
