Fixed my own Problem!!


One quart of ATF on the fuel tank did the trick. Runs and idles fine now!

First off there is no 98 Powerstroke unless you are running a van.

And if running some ATF in the fuel I would be willing to bet that the problem will be back.

Its not a Powerstroke,

yeah it probably will, i might have problems with the poppet valve or something related.

Then posting in the correct forum will help a lot more along with the year, make and engine that is in it.

If it isn't a Ford diesel then it needs to go into the General Diesel forum

If it's a '98 and not a Powerstroke, it's not a 7.3. As said, knowing just what model of vehicle and what engine will help direct you to the right forum.

My Bad Im new on this website but thanks for the advice. i can really use it.

If you tape the accelerator down and the problem goes away it's the accelerator is slipping and the tape is holding it. I went through this on a 1986 Tempo. Every time I taped down the accelerator it would work, but when the tape was taken off it would not. I replaced the accelerator assm and it fixed the issue.
