Hey there. I've been doing online browsing of pickups for awhile now. It's not an immediate need for me, but I will be needing one within the next year or two when I move back out west.

It seems like most the trucks within my price range are the 99-07 model year trucks, which is fine by me, cause I think the 08-10 trucks are downright atrocious to look at.

The first question I have is, whats the difference between the 250s and 350s during these model years? With the reading I've done the only thing I've noticed is something about blocks in the rear suspension.

What are the differences between the 2003s with the 7.3L and the 2003s with the 6.0L?

What are the differences in the suspension between the 2004s and 2005s? I heard that the new suspension in the 05s decreases the turning radius slightly. Is this true?

Can you make other modifications to decrease the turning radius?

Can an 05-07 take a 7.3L in the future if the 6.0L blows up?

Is it possible for the 7.3L to take a tranny designed for the 6.0L?

And finally, where can I find the charts for the towing and load capacities of the 250/350 from 99-07?

Let me start by saying that I have had both the 7.3 and the 6.0. They are both good engines and my current truck has a 6.0 but I prefer the 7.3.
The 6.0 has more power hands down but also can have more problems, mainly because the people that get them want to "hot rod" them and not use them as they were designed. Such as putting chips in them because you can get cheap horsepower from diesels. Most are kids. You can modify the 6.0 but it takes more than chipping it for more power if you want to keep it in one piece. The 6.0 doesn't like to be chipped unless you are willing to do other modifications to the engine. If you are going to leave it stock than they aren't a bad engine. On a note any truck with a 6.0 get an OAISIS report from Ford on the truck, this will tell you ALL warranty that has been done.
The 7.3 will not just bolt up to the 6.0 transmission. You may be able to get an adapter but there is also the electronic's that are involved.

There are blocks on the F-350 or maybe it's the F250, whatever it makes no difference in it's carrying or towing.

Payload wise or towing wise they are about the same except for the label on the door. Used the cost isn't going to be any different even new there wasn't much difference.

The turning radius on the 05 and up is BETTER as is the towing and payload capacity,so I don;t know where you got that info from.

To round it up I haul a pretty heavy camper an I came across a pretty good deal on an 05. It has been a great truck but I miss the 7.3 that was in my old truck just because it was so easy to work on. If may engine were to bite the dust I think it may be easier and cheaper to go with a Cummins as there are many after market suppliers for this swap out there, but I think I would upgrade the 6.0 first now that there are more parts available to make it "BULLET" proof.
Hope this helps in your search

Sorry, I meant to say increase, not decrease the turning radius.

Otherwise, thanks for the info. :)
