Thanks Maryland diesel Nick for additional how to details of the process.
-glow plugs and injectors brand new
-fuel filter in bowl…I get others like delete mods but that one isn’t of value to me: too many mods too many strange problems.
-no air or foam when running the fuel bowl key on drain line test you requested 2 days ago; did it 3 times and good/same each time.
-turbo vale; no pedestal delete change-easntcc box aware that 15 years ago— just removed the warmup ‘door’ so free flow year round.

this is an inland west coast truck till we moved to ID 4 years ago so no corrosion issues yet visible anywhere—doesn’t get much road time in the winter-mostly plowing the driveway. I bet you have lot where you are.

have a good nightsrest and weekend.
I need to do some other things for a few days so won’t be able to do the voltage assess and new scan till middle of next week.

thankyou again for all the detailed help!!

I recently, had these codes on mine....P1280 and P0475

P0475...always have this code, due to disconnecting the system in 2006 at the Y-pipe connector. No symptoms, no issues. better yet, no EBPV avtivation :)

P1280...fix was to replace ICP sensor @ drivers fwd valley cylinder head. Symptom was random engine hesitation and shut-off, CES dash light, no oil leaks though.

Oldiesdude; good morning and thankyou; yes, we replaced that same sensor and the plug a month ago as well since it seemed most likely—wish it had been that easy too. Plug off cranking test for that didn’t change things either.

Where did you get your sensors from? There are many fakes that look pretty real.

I'd been carrying mine in the glovebox for a long time, but IIRC, I purchased from a Ford dealership on Ebay. At the time they were selling both the ICP and the IPR both were in original MotorCraft packaging. I didn't need to use the IPR at this time.

Good afternoon
everyone and thankyou for your input-and patience till I could get the procedures completed and data you requested;
Sensors testing;
  1. CPS; 4.94v-all unplugged and same V after some plugged in.
  2. ICP; same as above
  3. EBP: same as above
  4. MAP; same as above
  5. IPR tested as well again; 11.6
  6. inspection of near wiring by plugs; all good.
  7. Inspection of wiring by plugs: all good.
  8. Forscan analysis;
    1. Reset parameters to less as requested.
    2. First screen shot is key on no cranking
    3. Next screen shots are multiple cranking events:
      Font Screenshot Multimedia Number Electric blue
      Font Screenshot Multimedia Number Software

      Font Screenshot Multimedia Software Number

      Font Screenshot Multimedia Software Number

      Font Screenshot Multimedia Software Number

      The one with the higher fuel pulse width occurred for a short moment during each crank event, then dropped down to the 3.06 most common number. Prior to each crank batt volts came right up to 12.86v.
    4. So-no puff, smell or start-fast crank-initially over 220rpm….it’s in the 60’s outside and truck was plugged in multiple hours befor

    5. Any other items we can test, check?

    6. im open to a new wire harness but would want to do the whole thing clear to the pcm and IDM.
    7. Same 2 codes still show after clearing: 1280 and 0475.

    8. Diesel Tech suggested a voltage test process on the harness for pcm and in’s so will look at doing that next as well. Getting ‘deep’ beyond my skill and understanding but trying to pay attention and learn as well.

    9. Thanks again!!

Good afternoon Maryland DieselNick

We've done that twice with the volt meter; noted in item 6 above at 11.6 volts this AM before doing the crank testing--checked it twice this AM; once with all items you requested disconnected and again after the other sensors were re-connected; both times this AM had the same voltage.

Take care,
MG

Are you talking about post #6 or your list’s number 6 ? That says What other items to check.
Do you know what the IPR is and where it is located? You need to disconnect the harness connector and verify that you are getting12 bolts with the key on with just a test light is
fine. The other sensors are to be checked with volt meter looking for 5 volts.

Hello Maryland Diesel Nick,

Yes, our item 6 listing; we did do as you stated--removed the IPR connector at the lower back of the HPOP and used the volt tester for the results of 11.6 volts. The other sensors voltage results were all 4.94--THANK YOU for the screen shots of that book; based upon the results we found then we need to go to DC 3 next--can you post a shot of that section please?

Also--can you post a shot of the book cover?--looks like something i should purchase, if its still out there.

Thank you!

Take care,
MG
