Well guys I have worked on a lot of these trucks..So I decided to buy one for my self and I firmly believe that this powerstroke breed is a pile of junk .. I have a solus scanner from snap-on and it said my #8 injector was bad so I pulled it and changed it out.. Got it all changed out and went to start it before I put valve cover back on and all it would do is crank so I changed out the cps and tryed again still just cranks.. Hooked the scanner back up and it does not show any codes.. Does any body have any idea??? I am glad I didn't get rid of my trusty 94 idi.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Not a great way to start a thread...Most of us would disagree....But...My first thought would be you still have air in the high pressure system...I would also look very carefully at the wiring & connections....

I am not trying to offend any one ..I just can't stand it when you pay good money for a truck and a few weeks later it develops a mis..So I plug into it and it is #8 injector ... And know I am getting ticked because it has been four days setting in my shop and I still don't have a fixed truck.. The sad thing is I am a heavy equipment deisel mechanic and the simplest little deisel is a pain in my can.. I have changed out several injectors on these trucks and never had the trucks this hard to start .. What is the easiest way to bleed air from this system?? And where to bleed??? Again not trying to tick any body off...

Anytime you work on inj's and the HPOP system you have to crank it to repressure the oil rails in the head.TO speed up this process sometimes it is easier to fill the resivor with oil

I wasn't offended . Most of us just love the trucks. Mine died the first week I had it ,took two weeks to figure it out . I wouldn't have anything else..

As far as the air ,I think you can crack the high pressure line on the reparied side while cranking it over . You may want to make sure the HPOP resevoir is full....& the batteries are up to it...

Exactly what the above posters have said, the first time I messed with an injector I was skeered to death, it would not start and not start, seemed like it took forever. Then when it did fire, it ran like crap for quite a few miles, these things have to work the air out the fuel rails, and oil rails. Not a quick process.

And I was offended!!! I agree, not a great way to start a thread, or get help on here!

Although I understand your frustration... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

Maybe it's the guy working on it and not the truck? Sorry didn't mean to offend anyone!! lol!!
You may run down the batteries before it will spit the air out. Make sure you let the starter cool off between starts or you will be replacing that too. But don't worry we can help you do that to.
Make sure the HPOP is full of oil and charge batteries if needed. Once it is started you may run real rough, take it out and drive it hard, like you stole it, this should purge any remaining air out. Could be worse you could be working on a DMax and replacing all the injectors!!

Well this maybe a very stuip question, but in your post you state (Got it all changed out and went to start it before I put valve cover back on and all it would do is crank)...Did you atleast have the valve cover gasket on place and pluged in? It needs to be plug in or the bank will not have glow plug or inj connection.
If it was pluged in like stated allready maybe it's just air bound.

True, the UVC gaskets plugged in AND the main harness on the drivers side too... (Pretty obvious things, BUT,, I have done stupider things before I know..)

As said above.... Now, I will pretty much always unhook the wire harness on both banks and spin it over a bit before I ever try to start. Then plug the harnesses back in and start it. Piece of cake. Sounds like maybe you forgot to plug it back in...... Not trying to be a smart ass either.......

checked all the wiring and all is plugged in .. Pulled the injector and installed another injector we checked fuel pressure got up wards of 30 psi .. Gonna run a compression test on the motor this week..Gotta feeling it is down on compression since it spins very freely like it doesn't have any comp..And I really do appreciate the help of you guys that actually have something to say about the situation..

The UVCH's runs under $80 for both sides. Very common for them to fail on our trucks. Injectors do no commonly fail on our trucks.

Make double damn sure you get all the oil sucked out of that cylinder. Refill the HPOP with oil before cranking on it. This may sound like a no-brainer but, check the oil level in the truck. It will NEVER start if the oil level is low. They can take a while to refill and will idle horrible (if at all) until they are properly purged. Some guys have reported up to 100 miles when all 8 are changed.

[/ QUOTE ] Is that enough? (I know that when they shim the fuel system, it is in the 60s...
