My A/C compressor clutch disengages when there is no load on the engine (idle). If I run the RPM up in Park, it still will not engage. It usually will engage when the engine is under a load.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Check the charge by hooking up gauges and see what the hi and lo head pressures are. May be a bit low.

Yea Chinookman is right. Sounds like your pressure (charge) has reached the point that triggers the low pressure switch witch will keep your compressor from engaging.

the good news is a quick trip to AZone will get you a refill kit and your good to go. Oh and one of them comes w/ a gauge.

PS: Look to see if the Lo-press. sw. has a leak it's a schraeder valve and they also are prone to leaking a bit. Good news again they can be changed out w/o losing the entire charge......
let us know....C-man
