With the weather warming up here in Florida, I went to use the A/C the other day and, well, it blew air but is wasn't cold. It was like it was in the 'Vent' setting even when I swtiched to 'Norm' and 'Max.'

A/C systems are one of the things I know nothing about. Is this the compressor that's gone bad? And anyone know of a good A/C shop here in central Florida?

Cheers from Orlando, FL! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

First you need to look at the very frontmost piece of the compressor and see if its turning with the pulley(running with A/C on max). If its not you probably need more R134A. This is just a guess, there are more things that will turn the compressor off but this is the most common.

Partsman -- Okay, I checked after work and the A/C Clutch turns intermittently with the A/C Clutch Pulley with the A/C on the 'Max' setting. I guess I'll find an A/C place and see if they can't recharge the R134a. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

When they recharge it, make sure they put some dye into the system so you can find any leaks that you might have. In theory, your AC should stay "charged" indefinately...

Good luck, summer is on it's way!
At least it's raining here!!
