I finally got a new tranny in my truck, and I figured I would travel to the next problem. My A/C just quit on me. I know it has a charge, and when I turn the a/c on, my compressor dosent kick on. I checked the fuse, and I got a test light and found that I have good ground, but no power at the compressor. Does any one have a wiring diagram of the a/c system so I can check it out and see if I have a lose wire? Or does any on think it could be somthing ealse that Im over looking? thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Try shorting the A/C cycle switch on the side of the dryer (passenger side of engine compartment, near the heater core, 8" cylinder looking thing.) It is hooked on to a schrader valve, so removing it won't cause you to lose coolant. Mine was about $18 at Kragen.

When the a/c is on, should the switch be hot on both wires? Its hot on one wire, but not the other. Could this be my problem?

The A/C power runs through that switch before it heads to the compressor. That switch cycles the compressor on/off in accordance with the pressure on the low side. If the compressor runs when shorting that switch and the coolant is at normal pressure, then the switch is probably bad.

Only passing on what someone else here just told me about a month ago! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Ain't it cool when you can learn from someone else who has already been there?

Most of us learn by what someone else has tried. Sometimes I "find" a neat trick or two..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
