Hi, my 6.4L Diesel F250 and I are stranded in the middle of west texas because of a bad batch of diesel (from the flood in louisiana). It would have been simple if I could have drained the Water Separator, but the lever had been broken off by the previous owner. So, I took it into a shop, and they got the new part (the cover for the Lift Pump, which also holds the drain valve). He has replaced it with the new gasket, but it is not seating correctly. I've been here for 24 hours now, so the mechanics and I get along pretty well, I'm helping where I can. He tried lubricating the gasket, and the torque settings are right on. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be going wrong or how to fix it? The pump won't work because it is pulling in air.

Are you talking aboutthe LPFP (low pressure fuel pump) and the seal on the cap?

Where exactly does it suck air?

Big chance that you'll have to bleed the entire system to get it to fire again
