Hi
I Just received my F 350 Super Duty Today and it is incrediable. I do have a quick question I bought a 2.5 to 2.0 Reduction sleave for my Hitch. It seems a little sloppy when I tried it on the truck. My feeling is it will lock in tighter when weight is put on the hitch. Am I correct in assuming this. Any Answers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Your super duty is a 3in draw and comes with a 2.5 reducer.

What Ks5shooter said - your F-350 probably has a 3" receiver. My 2020 has a 3" receiver and it came with a 3" to 2.5" reducer under the back seat. To go to 2" would require the second reducer. I did not want to use 2 reducers in order to use the drawbars I already had, so I bought a new 2.5" shank for my weight distributing hitch and use it with the 3" to 2.5" reducer and there is very little slop in the hitch. Could not find a 3" shank for the weight distributing setup so that's why I went with the 2.5" with the reducer.

Thanks Greg
You have given the best real life description of what i was thinking was going to have to happen. When or if my dad's new truck ever comes in.
Time to buy new hitch!

There are adjustable drop hitches available for 3" receivers that do not require a reducer. I also bought a 3" Weigh-Safe aluminum drop hitch with changeable 2" and 2-5/16" balls. This does not require a reducer at all.

Example:
Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount w/ Built-In Scale - 3" Hitch - 8" Drop, 8" Rise - 21K Weigh Safe Trailer Hitch Ball Mount WS8-3

I have not yet found a 3" weight distributing hitch shank. There are 2.5" shanks available, but they require 1 reducer. I tried to find the shank I have as an example (Reese part #54977), but it looks like it has been discontinued. The shank I used with my previous F-250 was 2", but that truck was lifted 6" and required a much bigger drop to tow the trailer level. It still would have worked but I would have risked dragging it on the ground and would have had to use both reducers. As it is now, the 2.5" shank I have works great with a single reducer. There is a little bit of movement, but it is only just barely noticeable when first accelerating from a stop or when slowing down quickly.

If you have to use a 2" hitch, you could weld the 2 reducers together to take out some of the slop.

Hi
I appoligize for not getting back sooner needless to say I have been getting my truck together with the items I need as far as the hitch is concerned I found a 3.0 to 2.5 inch reducer and then put a 2.5 to 2 inch reducer in that, ran the hitch locking through the 3 inch through the two reducers throught the hitch and reducers on the other side, pulled a 30 ft camper from PA to North Dakota(to visit my great grandkids) without any problems. The slop was minor. Anyway I wanted to say thanks again to all the replys I got
