I understood the 2008 had better AC units than before??? I didn't feel like mine worked as well as my prior truck this weekend. You all have any comments? Just want to know if this is all 2008's or just mine. I'm taking to the dealer this afternoon 'cause the fuel mileage keeps going DOWN as I add miles.
Thanks

I must admit the AC in my F450 is pathetic. I don't know if its not fully charged or else the sensor that controls the cycling of the compressor is misadjusted. This is the weakest Ford AC I've ever seen, it reminds me of the AC in a Chrysler minivan! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I only had my 08 for a couple of hours so far cause it's back in getting some goodies installed but my 02 Diesel which I still have will give you frostbite on full blast.

We like the wide louvers of the Ford's vents. Blows out more air than the 99 F350 ever did. Our Lariat has dual controls & I keep mine at different temp than DH, the driver. (Similiar to 05 Duramax & 01 Tahoe, both LT's) I usually keep one of my vents closed, because he likes the fan on high.

I thought it was just my imagination, but now that you mention it.
My 05 6.0 seemed a little cooler. Down here in South Texas with our humid summer months, you really notice these things. Maybe I need to turn up the blower a little more?

My thoughts are due to the blower system being so much quiter than previous Ford vehicles you have to wonder if it is putting out as much air, but in actuality I believe this was part of the design of the system. Due to the revised vent system (seems much larger than previous Ford's I have owned) in actuality it probably pushes much more air, but without all the noise one might think it's not pushing as much.. I have noticed though that if I manually turn the blower up to high it seems to push more air than when it's on Auto......Air comes out cold, but I have only operated it in 90 degree weather or less so far....

When I took delivery of my 2008 6.4L the condenser had a leak. The air barely worked. Two other F350's at the dealer had no AC charge and needed the AC recharged. The Condenser was replaced and the system charged to spec. Now the AC works incredible. It blows out the coldest air I've seen in any vehicle I've owned.

I did some tests. After 5-10 minutes of driving. Close all vents but the Drivers right vent. Put a digital thermometer in drivers right vent. Set the fan at about medium speed. Set the air to come out of the front vents only. Set the temp at 60 degrees. Set the air to Recirculate. While driving check your vent temperature. Mine blows from 33 degrees to 42 degrees with an outside air temp of 72. It sort of oscillates up and down within that range but mostly around 37-41 degrees.

Technologist and everyone,
Thanks for comments. Agree air flow is quieter. Agree auto system doesn't blow as much as you can get with manual fan setting. I now believe this truck is one with low freon charge level. The air is only cool not cold like one would expect. We'll see what dealer says.

Mine has been working great I would say as good if not better than anyone of my other vehicles. Fords, BMWs, Infiniti and especially the two GMs (96 GMC Suburban & 89 Formula 350) I have never had a complaint about any of my Ford HVAC systems and I think this one is the best yet.

My only complaint is that even when the air is set to "vents only" a small amount of ice cold air still blows directly on my size 14 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif right foot. After 10-15 minutes my right foot gets that frozen feeling. I'm forced to put the truck in cruise control and move my foot away from the gas peddle. I'll be adding a air deflector this weekend.
